Daniel grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and moved to London for a job. Hanh grew up in Saigon and moved to Washington, D.C. for college. Somehow, in the midst of a whirlwind of coincidences too strange to be believed, they met and fell in love. The whirlwind bore them through Washington, San Francisco, London, Saigon, Tulsa, New Orleans, and many more destinations. After years of jet lag, travel limbo, video calls, watching the same movie on different computers, and heartache, we are getting married, in Tulsa and in Saigon, and making a home together, in London.

Our first couples vacation after lockdown
The proposal
After months of planning and at least two missed attempts, Daniel proposed to Hanh in Washington, DC in January 2020. We enjoyed a sunset picnic at Gravelly Point - a scenic overlook of Washington Reagan Airport, where airplanes fly directly over your head. Hanh especially loves plane spotting, and airplanes were an ever-present part of our lives when we lived an ocean apart. As the sun set and a plane took off overhead, Daniel asked Hanh if she would spend the rest of her life, with him, figuring out if we are living in a simulation or what. We watched the Matrix earlier that day and it sparked an interesting discussion. Anyway she said yes!
We celebrated that weekend by eating at our favorite restaurant, Thip Khao, twice.
